Since 2018, the number of African sites inscribed on the World Heritage List has increased from 93 to 108.
Today, UNESCO is assisting the remaining 11 unrepresented African countries in preparing new nominations while also mentoring the next generation of heritage professionals, as highlighted at the recent International Conference on Cultural Heritage in Africa held in Kenya.
