To address Africa’s energy challenges, HEXTECH, a team of young engineers from across the continent, created a portable smart adapter that allows users to monitor and optimize their electricity consumption. It won first place at UNESCO’s Science-Engineering-Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Angola last year.
UNESCO’s Africa Week is an annual event celebrating the rich cultural, scientific, and artistic heritage of Africa and its diaspora. This year, a series of panel discussions focused on African heritage and its contributions to global knowledge, from Nok metallurgy and Dogon astronomy to the intellectual centers of Timbuktu.
