These removals are the result of considerable efforts undertaken by States Parties, with the support of UNESCO, to significantly reduce the threats facing these sites.
In recent years, UNESCO has made considerable and targeted efforts to support its African Member States. Since 2021, three sites located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and Senegal have also been removed from the List of World Heritage in Danger.
