Presented alongside the ministerial meeting of the G20 High-Level Working Group on AI, Data Governance, and Innovation for Sustainable Development, it brought together leaders from G20 member states and the African Union, development banks, universities, international organizations, civil society representatives, and the private sector.
It highlighted Africa’s capacity-building and investment needs to harness AI for Agenda 2063.
One of the Conference’s highlights was the launch of the AI for Africa Initiative, the Working Group’s flagship project, aimed at accelerating the implementation of the AU Continental AI Strategy (approved in July 2024) and securing G20 support for its deployment.
