World Children’s Day
On 20 November each year, UNICEF celebrates World Children’s Day, a global day of action, by children for children, to spread awareness about the rights of children and adolescents. This date is not accidental: on 20 November 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents, the most ratified human rights treaty in the world, with 196 signatory countries.
This year, UNICEF’s message is clear: “Listen to the Future”.
We ask governments, the private sector, families and all adults to listen to the voices of children, girls and boys around the world.
Only by supporting meaningful dialogue between generations can we, in fact, realize the rights of all children, everywhere.
We cannot disappoint them.
