Sierra Leone is taking significant strides to strengthen its agricultural workforce through the recent National Occupational Standards (NOS) Development Workshop focused on the Rice and Cassava value chains. Facilitated by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), this landmark event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to improve skills, professionalism, and competitiveness in two of the country’s most vital food sectors.
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s economy, with rice and cassava serving as staple foods central to national initiatives like the Feed Salone agenda. Recognizing the critical need to boost productivity and quality, the workshop aimed to establish clear, standardized occupational standards to guide training, certification, and workforce development across production, processing, and post-harvest management.
