When conflict, flooding or displacement force children out of the classroom, education needs can change rapidly. Responding effectively and ensuring that no learner is left behind depends on timely, reliable data.
To strengthen education planning and response during emergencies, the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI) officially launched the Education in Emergencies Management Information System (EiE-MIS), developed with technical support from UNESCO in partnership with the HISP Center at the University of Oslo and HISP network, and with funding from Education Cannot Wait.
The launch followed a week-long Training of Trainers, where 35 participants (14 women and 21 men) from MoGEI and partner organizations strengthened their skills in data management, data quality, visualization and reporting. As master trainers, they will now support the rollout of the system across states, counties and schools in South Sudan.
